I moved in here fall of 2008 and finally got my lease broken in the spring of 2009. The security and the gate makes it seem safe right? And this would be so, if the gate was keeping the dangerous things out. Unfortunately, the gate is just holding the dangerous things in. There were several occasions of gunshots inside the complex. Girls were beat up and had to be taken away in an ambulance. Guys were constantly fighting in the gym. This place is constantly running specials and trying to get people to move in because everyone knows how bad it is. They just changed the name this spring to The Element. It was previously called The Verge so you should search under that name too to get information. They make you sign a year lease and don't respond when you need help. My room smelled like weed ever night for almost the entire time that I lived there. I called security countless times, called the office countless times, and even called the police. When I finally had my father come down to help me broke the lease and talk to the managers, they lied to our faces and said they had never received a call or complaint from me of weed. We caught them in their lies cause they then said that they called the person's parents because of the weed issue, but then they said they never kicked them out because they couldn't prove the person had weed. My dad didn't believe me when I told him how bad the management was, but after speaking with them he was furious. When we told them that we were going to contact the security company and get copy of all the logs and voice recordings of all the times that I had called in the past months, they told us they had just hired a new company (which they had because the old one was tired of doing business with such a horrible place) and the old one was going out of business so we probably weren't going to get anything. My dad wrote up a letter saying that I was leaving that weekend and threatening to take them to court if they didn't cancel the lease and they said they were still going to charge us rent. I left and haven't heard a word from them since. We got ahold of the security company and the guy said that he would provide everything he had if we went to court and he even said that he would testify because the women who run that place will let anyone live there. They advertise it as student housing, but there are a lot of people not going to school that still live there (one example, the person who lived next to me that smoked weed every night so that it leaked through the walls and made my room smell, and who through parties till 2 am on school nights). The place looks great, but is HORRIBLE!!! There were soooooo many people there that were trying to get out. If you are moving to Sacramento and don't have someone to live with, you are much better off going to roommate.com or something like that. Believe me, this place was like a jail and everyone in the area knows it. That's why they try to get people from out of town. DON'T LIVE HERE!!!
