The owner is a JERK! Trust me your children are better off somewhere else! They don't care about the dancer or the parents all they care about is MONEY! They don't care about dance and don't care for the kids! NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Yesterday and today were my kids' recital and I have to say that it was a joke. Completely unorganized and ridiculous. We pay a recital fee AND have to buy tickets for each seperate recital, which by the way were all 3. So I was expected to pay the additional $36.
On top of that, the teacher/student ratio is ridiculous. They should hire more teachers OR the teachers need to start coming up with new material to teach cause it's pretty STUPID to repeat the same moves for each routine. My son WAS in the boys hip-hop class and one of my daughters WAS in the hip-hop class, and both of their routines had 80% of the same moves. TALK ABOUT REPETITION!!! AND the description for the boy's hip hop says they learn popping, break, stalls.......bull!! They learn Disney baby moves. Actually, Disney has better hiphop than that.
Studio 48 is a rip-off and not worth the time. I paid for the month of August and got ripped off for two weeks because next week there is no class due to the fact of school starting and this past week, they had pictures DURING CLASS.
I'm very disappointed and will NOT be taking my kids back.
I'll be taking them to The Movement Dance Center in Syracuse, owned by RICCI PHILLIPS. I suggest anyone who wants a straight up studio ran by real dancers and excellent teachers, to follow us there!!!

Nope! Nope! Nope! Will not take my daughter to a dance studio that calls parents F***** Idiots.
I was confused why I had an extra charge on My bank account from them for $40. Aparently there was a sign on the front door telling parents about the charge. This building has doors leading to the outside for all classrooms, so unless you had a reason to go to the office, you do not go thru the office doors. The owner of the company was screaming at me, and calling me a F-ing idiot because I did not see the sign that was "all over the building" I ask why no teachers told the parents during class, or sent a flyer, and I was told "because its not their job! its been posted on the door for a month". As I left, I double checked all doors, and sure enough the OFFICE was the only place it was posted. Was LIVID!!!!!

I wish I would have read the reviews of this place before I enrolled my daughter. I have never been treated so rudely in my life. I had to take my daughter out of class, we paid the whole month, but felt like we were going to take little break for a few months. I got a call telling me I owed a bunch of money for a drop fee. I had to pay to quit?! Since it had been a month since I should have "dropped" I also owed that money, even though my daughter had quit going the whole month before-that we paid! I told them I was not paying for that, and they treated me with court! I was shocked how greedy these people are. They continued to call me about it, so I finally went in and paid the drop fee. I would think as a business person myself, they would treat people better. Word of mouth is powerful! I laughed when I saw they have an A rating at the BBB! Hopefully, people will read these reviews before they are scammed like me!

My older daughter went to S48 for 6 years and my younger daughter for 3 years. For the first 4 or 5 years it was a great experience. However, as my older daughter got to be about 7 or 8 years old I noticed she was not being taught any new skills. So much emphasis was being put on learning cute dances that she wasn't being taught more advanced technique skills, despite being on the "Premier Team." At 4 years old in her dance she did a single pirouette. At 9 years old in her Premier Team dance she was still only doing a single pirouette and a right leg extension she had been doing for years. About December, "Technique Class," turns into extra show team practice so in actuality girls are only getting technique about half the year. I knew in January of the dance year that I would be moving my girls to a studio where they would actual be taught and pushed to be a skilled dancer. However, I knew they were far behind other girls at more elite studios. I decided to enroll them in technique at a different studio to bring them up to speed when we made the switch a few months later. This did not go over well with Studio 48, especially with Jake. I was asked to meet with him and Dallas in his office. I explained to them that I did plan to take my girls to another studio when the season was over because the S48 product no longer met our needs. My girls wanted more opportunities than only learned a Jazz Dance to compete at three local competitions. Jake offered me $500 to take my daughters and part ways. Mind you, this was a week before the first competition of the season. Pettiness was going to trump doing what was best for the team. I was also asked to keep this quiet. I can imagine it wouldn't be received well for other customers to know they were offering money for girls to leave due to hard feelings. I declined the offer and Jake reiterated that I would still get all the costumes I (over)paid for, dance shoes, tights, etc in addition to the $500. I declined the offer because it would not be fair to my daughters to work all season and walk away because of pettiness. Prior to this experience, I knew the S48 product no longer met our needs. However, after this experience I knew the owners were not people I would like to give my business or money to any longer.

If you're able to steer clear ...

If you're able to steer clear of the rude, money-focused owner, provide your credit card for automatic withdrawals without reservation, and could care less if the kids learn anything new year after year with their routines, sign up. If your child wants to learn to DANCE, go somewhere else.
