Snap is a pretty small gym, but in the past this gym had a "home" type environment and the staff was friendly. Past being the key word. In the last six months, this Snap has been attempting to add classes and recruit more members. Which I understand - all businesses would like to grow. But unfortunately when they have these classes, only four to five members are actually involved and the entire gym has to suffer. The music played for Zumba is played so loudly that you cannot hear your own in your headphones to get away. I was already scrambling to avoid Zumba and hours that are too busy in the evening (or else I would find myself miserable in an overcrowded gym.) But then today, after seven or eight months of being frustrated with these new changes, I had come in to find that they had moved the majority of the machines to the front of the gym close to six inches apart. I attempted to go on the elliptical anyway, but found that one of the leg machines being within arms reach effortlessly just isn't comfortable. The ellipticals on the other side of the row were only six inches away from the bikes behind it. Why on Earth would I want to go on that machine with someone riding a bike DIRECTLY behind me like that? After talking to Erik (their trainer who has ALWAYS been more than kind to me) and being unable to contact the owner, I go over to Matt. He is an older gentleman who unfortunately just seems like a very negative person. (Side note: I have also gotten stuck listening to him complain about co-workers multiple times. I am there to work out - not to be involved in your drama.) After explaining to him that it was over crowded he responded, "When you pay Steve's (the owner) rent - you can complain. Everyone complains to me when it's out of my control." I immediately canceled my membership. Are you so naive that you do not realize that customers paying memberships is what pays the rent? I refuse to be disrespected and feel uncomfortable to the point where I have been avoiding my own gym. I was very loyal, even when I worked for the Y and had a FREE membership I continued my membership visiting Snap, but afterwards I drove to Anytime Fitness & started a new membership.
