BEWARE of this hospital..........

BEWARE of this hospital.........My mother had knee replacement surgery. They removed the pain medication IV drip 24 hours after surgery, saying she told them her pain level was a 4 (on a 1 to 10) scale. Who do you know that would only have a pain level of 4 when they are 24 hours out? Insane! They told me that my mother told them it was only a 4. I highly doubt it. First, she was in no condition to tell them anything. She was completely incoherent for the first 2 days. She's almost two weeks out of surgery now and still has pain so it doesn’t make sense that she would tell them it was at a level that low 24 hours after the surgery. Second night after surgery, I called the night nurse to check on my mother, who told me my mother was not in any pain. I told her that was odd because I was with her the day of surgery and this particular day and she was in extreme pain the whole time. The nurse told me again that she was in no pain. The next morning my mother told me she was in excruciating pain all night and was begging for pain medication. I checked with the day nurse to see if my mother had been given pain medication during the night. That's when I found out the night nurse didn’t give her any pain medication at all, all night long! This wasn't the worst, believe it or not. My mother was discharged to a rehabilitation center. The day she was discharged the nurse didn't think to ask her if she needed her scheduled pain medication at 2:00 p.m., so she never got it. My mother was transported to the rehab center at 3:00 p.m. The orders for her pain medication didn't come in to the rehab center until 7:00 that night, so my poor mother went from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. without any pain medication at all. Last, but not least, they discharged her with impacted bowels. She was in so much pain when she got to the rehab center I could hardly bear to watch. I can't tell you how hard it was to see her suffer like that, all unnecessary suffering, at the hands of this hospital and their incompetent staff. My mother is the sweetest person on the face of the earth. There aren't words to describe how heartbreaking this was for my family. There are no excuses in the world to justify this. My advice.....don't EVER use this hospital!!! If you don't have a choice and have a family member there, make sure someone stays with them 24/7 so they don t have to endure what my mother did. This place is despicable. I don t know how they can sleep at night knowing the pain and suffering they caused.
