Falsely Accused because the receptionist don't do their job

Never have I experienced such incompetence. I scheduled an appointment on Jan. 5th 2010 and then received a call back saying that I was no longer welcome at that doctor’s office and my appointment had been cancelled due to a prescription forgery. My heart dropped and I felt sick to my stomach. I thought “what in the world are they talking about?” They said that a prescription made out to me at my last appointment (which was September 2009) was altered to a controlled substance and that the pharmacy had faxed them a copy of the prescription. For starters I am not and never have been a drug addict. I have my BSW from IU and am currently applying to graduate schools and hold a full time job, therefore I am not an idiot either and never would I think I could cross out a prescription name and write Percocet on it instead. The receptionist at the doctor’s office proceeded to say that the police had been involved. WELL THEN WHY DIDN’T THEY FEEL IT NECESSARY TO CALL ME? The pharmacy this prescription was dropped off at couldn’t contact me, because I had never been there, the police never contacted me and the doctor’s office never contacted me. So someone must have stolen this prescription (which was just a back up prescription that I didn’t end up needing so I didn’t realize it was gone) which caused a huge issue (and rightfully so, I recognize the prescription forgery is a serious issue) and I was blamed for it. I was extremely offended and embarrassed to be told I wasn’t welcomed there when I called THEM to make an appointment because of a situation I did not know occurred. They finally apologized and allowed me to come in. I finally came in for my original appointment after they realized they were wrong-so I saw a doctor because I needed antibiotics-but I will never return. They called my back the next day and admitted someone should of called and followed up, but that they just “dropped the ball”. No formal apology for this defamation of character and horrendous experience that I spent a whole work day trying to figure out.

so be careful...if this rediculous disaster happened to me, what else are they not aying attention to?
