I called Taylor Painting because I needed a professional to clean and re-stain my backyard deck (only about 2 years old). Over the phone I was quoted a price of $250 based on my verbal description. He didn't want to come out and physically look at the deck to quote it. Upon arriving he raised his quote to $300 because it was more work than he anticipated. I agreed to the new price and he got out his pressure washer. He washed for 15 minutes and said that he would come tomorrow and finish because he needed some brushes. The next day he came back and pressure washed again. The deck looked horrible when he was finished; it was all splotchy and stain was missing in some parts but not in others. I figured that this was how it was supposed to look and once the stain was applied everything would even out and look great. The day he was supposed to stain the deck I called and spoke to him. First he suggested a solid stain to cover my now horrible looking deck, next he said that the price would increase because he would have to strip the entire deck for it to look how I wanted it to. His price was now was up to $400. I fired him and finished the deck myself -much easier and it will probably look better.

The Home Depot paint person said you should not pressure wash a deck - they have products that you apply and just spray off with a garden hose. It takes 30 minutes and costs about $25. I don't recommend Taylor Painting.
