Its line of automatic splicing unwinds, automatic transfer rewinds and tension-control systems are used in paper and paperboard printing, label converting, packaging, non-woven manufacturing and converting, coating and laminating, medical device manufacturing and construction materials. Its equipment has been installed at nearly 8,000 locations throughout more than 50 countries. Martin Automatic was founded by John Martin in 1968. The company has headquarters in Rockford, Ill., and maintains international offices in Germany and Taiwan. Much of the equipment manufactured at its nearly 200,000-square-foot complex is based on the company s patented inertia compensation technology.
