The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is the largest full-service sheriff's office in the state of Michigan. It employs a staff of more than 1,200 sworn officers, volunteers and civilians. The office operates a jail and detention center that houses pretrial, presentenced, and county- and state-sentenced prisoners. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office also serves various writs, processes, orders, subpoenas and other civil papers for local courts and other county and state departments. Its patrol services division is comprised of traffic, aviation, K-9, marine, mounted, parks and reserve units. In addition, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office maintains emergency preparedness, training and communication divisions. Headquartered in Pontiac, Mich., the office maintains a substation in Rochester Hills, Mich.
