Allison K. Divers, M.D., is certified by the American Board of Dermatology, trained in medical, surgical and aesthetic dermatology. She is a native of Roanoke, Virginia and moved back to her home town, where all her immediate family reside, after finishing her dermatology residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Divers was a registered nurse prior to attending Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, and knows that her nursing experience was invaluable to the physician she has become. In addition to ministering to her patients? dermatologic needs in her daily practice, she believes very strongly in supporting basic science dermatology research, and is a member of the Dermatology Foundation, Leaders Society. The Bradley Free Clinic of Roanoke Valley is near and dear to her heart, as she has a living history with the clinic. She first volunteered there when she was a Hollins College student, then as a nurse, and now as a dermatologist, both directly and via Project Access for the under served. To enjoy her love of art, you need only to visit her office. Her eye for art compliments her aesthetic talents in serving her patients. It is the creative dimension that replenishes. As a dermatologist her primary training, continuing education, daily practice and all professional efforts are dermatology focused. Skin care is her ?soul? practice. Dr. Divers provides diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of skin diseases, and especially enjoys the surgical treatment of skin cancer. Early detection and treatment of skin cancer is key, as is a life-long commitment to protecting your skin from the sun's wonderful but skin harming ultraviolet rays.

I saw Dr. Divers a few times while she was with Lewis-Gale. Dr. Divers told me, "Well, you've got scars!" after whatever medication she prescribed wasn't helping after a few visits. I was still breaking out, still had clogged pores and, hello, I KNOW I have scars! Now, did she mean: you've got scars so why bother? Since she dismissed me so readily, I can only assume that to be the case. Now, she is with a practice that seemingly concentrates on beauty? Just another reason I am so suspicious of these type of practices. If anyone in the Roanoke area with adult acne and scars could recommend someone who has really helped them, I would be eternally grateful.
