I was a moderately satisfied resident of the Park at Idlewild for 7 months, ending today. I had asked to move into a 3-bedroom apartment (from my current 2-bedroom) since I'm planning on doing foster care, and was promised at the beginning of February that an apartment was available and would be ready for move-in by March 15. I scheduled movers and otherwise prepared to move. On March 13, two days before my move was scheduled, I was told that the apartment wouldn't be ready because "it was trashed" and the management had no idea when it would be ready. They never made any attempt to contact me about this -- had I not taken the initiative, I would have found the day before my movers were scheduled that I wouldn't be able to move into my apartment.



I originally gave them two stars because they gave me the impetus I finally needed to start the house buying process. But I had to amend that to one star the day after I wrote this review, when the building manager told me that they had already leased my apartment to somebody else. Somehow, the management expected that I would accept responsibility for their unprofessional behavior -- they thought it was okay to tell me, 2 days before the date I'd been promised an apartment and 5 days before they knew I was leaving town on a business trip, that I had to wait until an unspecified date to move into my apartment. Simultaneously, they thought that I would be happy to rearrange my life so that they wouldn't have to admit their incompetence to a new tenant, someone who they'd also promised an apartment to while making no attempt to ensure that apartment would actually be ready. The manager admitted that they had been aware of the "trashed" state of the apartment I'd been promised for 10 days -- since March 4, when the other tenants moved out -- and not once bothered to call me, knock on my door, or leave a note to give me any indication that it wouldn't be ready at the time I'd been promised in writing.



I've lived in 15 other rental properties over the last 14 years, and this is without a doubt the least professional, least competent managerial staff I've ever dealt with. They don't do repairs unless you nag them repeatedly, and even then, they don't really do the repair (e.g. after 4 or 5 complaints, my dishwasher still doesn't get the dishes clean). The grounds are always covered with dog feces from residents who don't care enough about their living environment to clean up after their pets. I care about where I live, and if you do too -- and want neighbors and management who feel the same way -- live somewhere else.
