I chose to become a registered dietitian because food has always played a large role in my life. My parents and grandparents allowed me, from a very young age, to help them cook or bake, and I was often found in the kitchen with them. Eventually, my interests in food and nutrition grew past the kitchen and towards how food affects and nourishes people. I believe in meeting people where they are and working with them through small changes to reach their goals. There is no one eating style that will work for everyone, and it is important to work with people in order to cultivate a healthy, lifelong relationship with food. Outside of work, I try to experience all that the Triangle has to offer. I enjoy biking the many greenway trails, taking advantage of free outdoor events and trying new restaurants. I also love hiking with my husband. Most evenings, however, I look forward to taking my dog for a walk, baking something with chocolate and, during hockey season, rooting for my Pittsburgh Penguins.
