I’ve been a Scott Williams customer for 15 years and they have had my back every year.
They have taken good care of my furnace and in those trying years when things were tight they understood and worked with me so I could get oil and stay warm

If I could give them 0 stars I would. TERRIBLE company, very poorly owned and managed by someone who lacks all core values in business. The owner would rather argue and tell you your wrong instead of helping you find a solution to a mistake made on their end. Not to mention, they have poor record keeping of conversations with their clients. After calling to get off of Auto-pay and Auto Receiving they still showed up and charged me $600, again without my consent for the second time. I could never imagine running a business on these terms, the reason why so many of us run successful businesses is because we pride ourselves on treating those who invest large sums of money with respect and CLEARLY this is not something Scott Williams understands! Do your research you will find an oil company who values your business.

We just bought a home in Hingh...

We just bought a home in Hingham and have been using Scott Williams for a few months now. I am writing this review based solely on Scott Williams customer service and response. I called on a Wednesday afternoon with some "issues" and Ken Williams called me back within the hour and spent several minutes with me on the phone. I have also been in contact with a very nice female receptionist, who is helpful and sweet as can be. I came across this listing on yelp when looking up their phone number, and had to write a review because far too often people only review from negative experiences, versus positive. This is not a company with poor customer service and lack of care for their customers. There is a reason that the majority of our town uses them.

I just had a new Buderus heati...

I just had a new Buderus heating system put in to replace my old clunker. The installers, George and Keith, did a wonderful job and left the area cleaner than they found it. As an on going customer I have found the company to be reliable and pleasant to deal with. I'm looking forward to lower heating bills this year!

Great Service!

I became a customer this winter. I called them when my previous dealer let me run out. Scott-Williams had someone at the house within 30 minutes and the heat was back on.



I also had them come in and do a tune-up, which was overdue. The technician was great, and did a nice clean job and was on time - bravo!



My experience has been great and I highly recommend them.

A pattern of bad business

I was surprised to read that this company engages in a pattern of bad business habits; I assumed in good faith that the 'mistake' they made with me was just that, a mistake.



Specifically, I was under contract with them through Mass Energy. When I canceled the contract with mass energy I assumed that I was no longer under contract to Scott-Williams. They received notification that I was no longer with Mass Energy, but 'retained' me as a automatic delivery customer. It was the end of May when they decided to show up and deliver oil, a couple weeks before we were set to go on vacation - so of course we had no cash and we had no need of a fill-up. A very dishonest business practice in my opinion.

This customer was a member of a buying cooperative. He did not renew his membership with them. He did not notify them of that - simply did not pay. He never notified us of any changes, and because he had been on auto delivery made a regular delivery to his residence. His leaving the buying coop had no bearing on his delivery status or business relationship with us. They were due for a delivery in May as the heating system makes hot water all summer. Customer was irrational - I offered a substantial discount and tried to explain that the coop and Scott-Williams were two different entities, but he failed to listen or understand. If he had called us to say he was making arrangements the situation never would have happened. Unfortunately, in today's world it's always the other person's fault. We tried to make a resolution, despite not being at fault - what we got was a nasty, unfair review for his lack of forethought. If the customer should read this and still want to discuss resolution feel free to call the office.

Filled tank when only wanted 100 gallons

THis company filled my tank after ordering 100 gallons. MaryAnne, who answers phone, horribly unpleasant, and would not "own" the mistake. THere are many other reputable south shore oil companies, I only tried them, because my oil company. Stewies, sold to them. Do not use Scott Williams Oil, they will feign "miscommunication" after overchargine you or delivering what you did not order..

I suspect there is more going on than meets the eye with this review. If we had filled the tank, rather than delivered 100 gallons only, we would have either pumped the over-delivery out, or gave the customer the option of paying for the extra gallons when they would have called for them - perhaps a month or two later. It doesn't happen often, but if it does these options usually satisfy a rational person. In this case I think the reviewer has an axe to gring - probably over an unpaid balance.

Stay away from them!

This woman is nasty. I spoke with them today regarding her and they said that sometimes having and "attitude" as I put it to them is what they need to do to get across to people. They asked me if I needed a fill, I said no and they came out anyway and filled my tank. Now I have a bill for almost $600.00 when I said no. They said there is nothing they can do, it was miscommunication.

The negative reviews on this site are all actually from one person - with an axe to grind. She was a former customer who failed to pay her balance, and unfortunately had to be referred to a collection agency. As a response, she has posted reviews under several names on several sites. She continually uses the "asked for 100, but got a full tank" story, but that does not ring even close to true. It is a shame that these review sites allow malcontents with an axe to grind to post their alleged grievences for all to see. As their is ulterior motive involved here "reader beware".

Customer Service with ATTITUDE

Is horrible. I don't know who in the hell the woman is that called my home but talk about rude and arrogant. How did she get the customer service job there? She needs to take a class on how to talk to people because it's evident she doesn't know how to. Regardless how customers credit is you don't speak to them according to how good or bad it is. If I had A+ credit they would be up my ass on trying to get my business. If the customer service isn't a pleasant one why would you want to do business with a company like that.

Unfortunately probably another customer who failed to pay for what they ordered and then decided to blame it on the company. Too often these sites are for malcontents with an ax to grind. Please bear that in mind when reading reviews. Notice none of them complain about the quality of service - just billing issues - which is telling...
