Never Again: Expensive, Rude, Not-Authentic

Maybe I wasn't impressed because I have been to other Japanese steakhouses in the past or because I am Asian myself but, I will never go back. The manager for this place is only after the money and is not really concerned about the dining experience or the customer. My boyfriend took his mother and myself out for a Mother's Day dinner. His mother had never been to a Japanese steakhouse before and we wanted to share the experience with her. The other Japanese steakhouses were packed with an hour wait. I found the Iron Chef on my phone and they had absolutely no wait. As a matter of fact, there were only three other tables occupied. Besides noticing Christmas lights and garland as part of their decor, one of their waitresses came out banging a drum to a hip-hop type beat. Other Japanese steakhouses I have been to also play drums, symbols, or a gong but, they play traditional (Asian, specifically Japanese) music. The show the chef put on was pretty good and the food was bland but ok. My boyfriend had ordered two drinks and soon after he got his second drink, the chef accidentally knocked it on me and my purse soaking both. A new drink was brought out for my boyfriend. As I had to get cleaned up, my plate started to get cold. I ate it cold anyway because everyone else was almost done eating. When we got the bill, I asked the waitress if we could get some sort of discount because of the incident. She stated that we already got a discount because they did not charge us for the drink that was spilled by their chef. I told her that this was not good enough. She spoke with the manager and came back stating that she would give us five dollars off. Keep in mind, for three dinners, two sodas, and two alcoholic drinks came to $105.00. Five dollars was still not good enough for me. I asked if the manager would come speak with me. The manager came out and stated that she would have offered a bigger discount to cover the cost of dry cleaning but, it was obvious to her that my clothing was machine washable, and if I wanted a hot dinner they could have reheated it for me. No apology for the incident, just rudeness. I was furious and did not want to ruin dinner for the three other tables and just took the five dollars. After the bill was paid, we discovered she never took the five dollars off. I let the waitress know that she owed us five dollars, and let the manager know that the internet is not the place to get a bad review. It is no wonder they had so many empty tables and there is no doubt that we will not be return customers.

Wasn't Impressed

Went to this Japanese Steakhouse for the 1st time to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary and I was not impressed. The food was average and not very tastful. I had ordered the chicken and shrimp and the taste of the chicken tasted like the flaming fluid is was cooked in. The ambiance was average at best. The knivery performance by the chef was also average. I had told the hostess when I made my reservation and upon check in at the restaraunt that this was a 25th anniversary dinner - NOTHING. Keep in mind that there were two birthday celebrations at other tables that got the full treatment of song, pomp and circumstance, and Japanese drums. We got nothing. I will not go back to this restaraunt anytime soon. Truly a dissapointment for what was a momentous event in my life. In my humble opinion, go elswhere if you want a Japanese steakhouse experience.
