At Utah Valley Specialty Hospital, we provide long-term acute care services to patients recovering from serious illnesses or injuries. Often these individuals require additional critical care services for medically complex conditions such as trauma, infectious diseases, wound healing, cardiovascular disease, stroke, amputation and ventilator weaning. Our hospital is located in Provo, Utah. We are a free-standing, long-term acute care hospital serving patients in Utah and surrounding states. These efforts have earned us national recognition for our respiratory care services, meeting stringent guidelines that put us in the top 15 percent of hospitals nationwide.

I have a friend whose mother just spent over 2 months at this hospital. She couldn't say enough good things about the care she received from nurses, PCTs, respiratory therapists, therapy staff, case managers, and the doctors. She went to the hospital critically ill and left the hospital off of the ventilator and without a trach tube and into an inpatient rehab facility. They were so grateful for the good care she received. She would definitely recommend this facility!

Concerns about my husband’s stay. NO COMMUNICATION.

I arrived 10:30 a.m. At 2:00 p.m. only ½ cup in urine bag. The nurse, she said no big deal!!! At 4:00 p.m., no change. At 6:00 p.m., no change. At 7:00 p.m. his back hurt. The catheter was kinked in half, it had backed up into his bladder/kidneys. The nurse didn't care.

He got diagnosed with CDIF. The nurses still gave him a laxative and a stool softener.

He was disoriented, because of the narcotic, Dilaudid. The family had to request no narcotics. It worked.

The nurses complained about moving him. He warned them of bed sore. The new skin got ripped off every time.

While doing PT, Drew/colleague did karate for an hour. Is it their job to entertain?

Kerry Wyckoff, the case worker said he was being moved to a skilled nursing facility. I called my insurance company and he was approved for another week.

I would NOT RECOMMEND this facility to anyone. Very frustrated and disgusted with this facility. One of the WORST places!

My mother has been in this hos...

My mother has been in this hospital for 21 days. She has been scared of the nurses hurting her fragile body and has been cussed by the nurses for being bed ridden and. unable to go the the bathroom on her own. The nurses argue about treatment which every patient has the right to refuse. She told the nurses and respiratory therapists about the doctors orders that they do not review. Some of the nurses seem to listen and are concerned others think they are part God and the patient will do what they think is best. This is totally wrong.... I had to have my father call and tell the nurses about the doctors orders during the day. No one seems to know what is going on ever. There are tests that need to be ran and are never ran until we insist that they be conducted. No one knows anything from day to day... they keep her totally drugged and most of the time she has been too tired to complete the physical therapy to get better so that she can go home. She was in the hospital for Pneumonia and went to this hospital to recover. She got another different type of pneumonia in this hospital and almost died... After researching the type of bacteria it came down to the fact that a bladder infection was one of the factors that contribute to this type of pneumonia. They had broke her catheter the day before and had replaced it. This hospital was recommended by Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, and the doc tors have told us that this is a great place. This place is a death trap. The doctors and nurses don't give a damn about the patients and are only here to collect the insurance payments. These people should understand they are OUR employees and I think they should listen to the patients and family of the patients. I wouldn't recommend this place to board my dog.

Recently my mother spent 25 day at this facilty, I will never take her back they were the most neglectful lazy people that work there. My mother devopled bed sores right before she went in with proper care they should have been healed by the time she left. It was a burden to them to get her out of bed they did not like taking her to the bathroom, They rather wrap a disposable bed sheet around her and let her go in all over herself she deveploed Rash so severe she was bleeding. Then she picked a bacterai up that was highly contagious. They did not properly dispose of her waste it was left in open sight where other poeple could pick up the bacteria it is so highly contagious. We never could speak to her phone was hanging on her wall they turned off her cell phone. When I went to go visit a number of occasions her nurse's button was hanging on the wall. If you take your family members there please don not let there first impression win you over. Since I moved my mother in just one day she has made wonderful progress getting the attention and care you need has alot to do with your recovery. I feel that staf there are just there to collect there paychecks and do not care about there patients.
