In 1970 Richard Hegeman started as an Apprentice Lapidary (gemstone cutter) and for approximately five years worked for two different companies before striking out on his own. By February of 1978 he opened a small lapidary Shop in downtown Providence, Rhode Island and began cutting and repairing precious and semi-precious gemstone for importers, manufacturers, retailers, and the general public. In the past 30 years the business has continued to evolve. In addition to the lapidary work, Richard designs custom wedding bands, neckpieces, pendants and an assortment of precious and semi precious gemstone jewelry, as well as diamond engagement rings.
