I was traveling with my family on Hwy 69 when I got a warning of low tire pressor. As I was driving I saw the bright red Sun Valley Tire building and pulled into the parking lot. I walked in and was immediately greeted with a happy hello and the owner Paula came over to help me out. They quickly looked at the tire and found a nail I must have run over on the highway. They took the my car and quickly fixed the issue. They best part, they fixed it for FREE! They even gave me a complementary inspection and topped off all my fluids. I am going to recommend this wonderful tire shop to anyone living or passing through the area. Fantastic customer service and I was in and out faster then I thought possible. THANK YOU SUN VALLEY TIRE for getting my family safely back on the road.

The only thing worse that incompetence is lying to excuse it.

I had a 9:00am appt. for new tires (bought through TireBuyer, which is great). At 10:00 I was still waiting so I asked for my keys because I am partially disabled and couldn't stand there waiting any longer. Instead of honoring my request the 'boss' refused and instead had someone bring my car in ahead of when it otherwise would have.
They asked if I wanted nitrogen and I said no. (This is a scam to charge you more. The air is already 78% nitrogen, and every respectable shop uses a moisture trap on their compressed air.)
They changed the tires but did not use a torque wrench. When I got the car home I found they had swapped my factory valve caps for ugly (and cheap) chrome and green caps.
The Tires were over-inflated by 7 to 8 pounds, and the lug nuts were over tightened by at least 15 pounds.
I went back to get my original caps back, made sure they hadn't charged me for nitrogen, and pointed out the errors in torque and pressure.Instead of apologizing and offering to fix it, 'Paul' lied and said they deliberately over-inflate with nitrogen. Nonsense. Regardless of the gas content the pressure should be set to the car manufacturers specs. The only reason to over-pressurize the tire is to assist with the lie that nitrogen gets better mileage, but at the cost of wear and safety)
As far as the improper torque, his excuse, like many shops now, is that they use 'torque sticks' on the air wrench. Don't fall for this, either. What he is referring to are called PRE-torque sticks. They are torsion bars invented to help prevent the mechanic from over-tightening the nuts PRIOR to final torquing with a wrench. The problem is that so many shops now rely on them for final torquing. I have yet to see a lug nut properly torqued using a stick only. Insist they use a needle or click-stop torque wrench, and if they don't go to another shop.

Never again.

Update. I finally took the car on the highway and discovered this shop also didn't balance the wheels properly. I had to drive all the way to Flagstaff under the speed limit to avoid the vibration.

I had great results when taking my PT Cruiser into Sun Valley. Everyone there was helpful and my car was well taken care of on several occasions.

Sun Valley Tire

I cannot say enough about Don and his crew. My son moved to Precscott and of course had car trouble immediately. Don looked his vehicle and found that the problems were more serious than we realized. We found h a newer vehicle and the day we did, it started making a noise that sounded like a new motor to me. It was late Sunday and we had it towed to Sun Valley so they could take a look Monday. Don called me early in the morning and gave me the "possibilities" that ranged from bad to worse. I told him to take it apart to diagnose and pray for the best. I was nervous as I do all the work on my family's 9 vehicles. Don called me back quickly and spoke to me with the utmost candor and respect. He gave me his diagnosis and a quote. He completed the repair and kept in the loop the the entire time through phone calls and texts. The vehicle came in under expected time and (get this folks) UNDER THE QUOTE!. A job well done and a customer for life!! Don took care of my son as if he were family and that goes along way with me. It was a superb experience and I honestly felt that Don had my sons back. He fully inspected the vehicle and gave us a list of upcoming PM just because he knew the vehicle was new to us. I would strongly recommend Sun Valley to anyone for any level of service. Don is a good man and an honest mechanic that truly cares about his customers. These practices have made me and my family customers for life. I live 250 miles away and would trailer my vehicle there to have major work done if it was needed.

Took our car in for second opinion on a $600 brake job quoted elsewhere, Don got me out for under $130. Didn't need all the filters, rotors and other add ons. And he is very supportive of vets!

I went in to get my oil changed, Don said that he could not get a hold of me and he changed my brakes without my permission. He charged me $150 when I went in for a $25 oil change. Never again will I go there.

This is an update to the previ...

This is an update to the previous review related to the Nissan Maxima that was worked on by Sun Valley Tire. After several discussions and the review previously written Sun Valley Tire returned $1,300 of the money paid. Retaining a portion of what was paid for efforts in trying to track down the problem is agreeable to us. We now consider the matter closed and are adjusting the rating. I'm adjusting their score for effort in trying to find the problem over a long period of time, Still in this case they did not have the expertise for this particular car with this particular problem. I also want this and the prior review to balance out as it is not working when we try to adjust the prior review. The big issue here is that a refund was difficult to get when the original problem was not fixed and I was asked to come get the car as they had given up on it. An automatic refund in this situation seems appropriate.

I took my nissan to sun valley for a no cold start and rough idle. They changed the IAC for over $400. I get the car, same problem. Sun valley then changes the engine computer, over $1,100 they charge me. Remind you, they have had my car for a month now at this point. I go get the car and same problem. I'm done with them. I take the car to a local nissan dealership and they diagnose it as a short in the motor mounts and then they had to change the IAC and computer again because Sun valley messed it all up. Dealer charged me $1,800 to fix it right, in 3 days and with warranties. Don Otto at Sun valley did not offer to give me my money back nor money for being without my car for a month. They are unprofessional, horrible workmanship. Don't go here. Save your time (Days, weeks, a month) and money. Bet they don't fix your car right the first time.

Not worth the time. They will take your money to say it will fix the problem and then after that not fixing the problem they will want more money. There words to me were. You have multiple problems. We have to start with this and this. Cost about $300. If that doesn't fix it then it will need this and this and this. Another $600. So ofcourse the first $300 did not fix it. What they need are techs that can diagnose the problem and fix it the first time. Do not go here and spend your time and money.
