I recently used Popovers On The Square to create 2 custom cakes for my son's 1st birthday party. I met with a baker a week before the party and brought pictures of what I wanted, she took sketches, we paid a deposit, and left. Had my husband pick the cakes up the morning of his party and they were not what I expected when he brought them home. I ordered a custom Mickey Mouse 'smash' cake that was missing some details. The sheet cake was to be red polka dots and buttercream only. Instead, I got red and yellow fondant polka dots and the Mickey Mouse on the cake was also fondant and looked like it had melted even though my husband kept the AC on blast the 1/2 hr drive home. When I called, there was no explanation of why the mix up happened. The person I spoke with offered to credit me $10 back for the fondant used on the sheet cake, but it would take $10 in gas and tolls for me to drive there to get a partial refund. They instead offered to mail a $15 gift certificate which will probably be given as a gift to someone else because I don't think I'll be going back there. I decided not to let it bother me, served the cakes as is, and of course everyone thought they were cute... but the buttercream icing they make was not good. At all. It tasted like butter, not frosting. I'm sure for every one bad experience, there's a hundred good ones... but for me, I would not recommend them .
