I come to Portland to visit my son and his wife, and i found the states motel in the phone book. I stayed for a week and the rooms were remodeled and very cute. I thought the staff were excellent, and in the future when i visit i will return to the states motel.

on 10/02/2010 I parked at the old bowling alley next door and at 9:30 am with lots of cars and people around, someone smashed my window, stole a bunch of stuff from me and and ran, looking around they also broke into other cars. i was just dropping my son off and this happened in 10 minutes, while i ran him across the street and came back. it was awful and the cop talked to the owner of the sleezy states motes and he didn't want to help at all, even though they have cameras all around there. i know it was someone at that motel. the bad thing is, i was in a hurry and everyone from PAL football parked there and there were people everywhere, i didn't even notice the sleezy motel

Me and my wife just got back into Portland and we were looking for a cheaper weekly motel until we move into our studio on the 5th. Boy did we make a mistake when we chose the states as that motel. We called and asked for a bottom level room because my wife is disabled. They said no problem. We showed up about a hour later and they gave us a top level room saying they would have a bottom floor room available in the morning. It took 3 days to get a bottom level room. No housekeeping yet and this is our forth day here. There is a huge bloodstain on the floor by the headboard in this room. Upstairs room the windows glass was broken and electrical outlet covers were broken. In both rooms the carpets have burn holes everywhere. Every time we call the office it takes forever for them to answer then they are very rude. They havent gave us new towels in the last 4 days. I recommend that you stay far from this dirty, overpriced place. If I could have I would have rated the states 5 thumbs down.

I called looking for a less expensive hotel near the airport. After about 20 rings, someone answered. I needed a room for 4 days. They informed me that they don't take reservations. It's a first come, first serve basis. I don't know about you, but I'd like to KNOW my room is waiting for me. Needless to say, I won't be staying here.
