Disappointing

I hadn't been to the zoo for many years and so I decided to take my kids and grandkids as a treat this summer. It was more like a fair rather than a zoo..very few animals -and what animals were there acted very unhappy. Since it was a cool day, I expected the animals to be a lot more active but that was not the case. There were also a lot of places to buy food and/or trinkets - which took away from the 'specialness' of the whole purpose of the zoo. Some areas of the zoo cost additional money. Parking was horrendous. All in all a very disappointing day. I'm sure our family will never return until the the zoo returns to its original purpose...ZOOKEEPING!!!

Great zoo!!!!

This zoo is one of the nicest ones I have been to. I disagree with the comment that it is to spread out, then you've never been to the San Diego Zoo or Chicago's Brookfield Zoo. Portlands has a great variety and excellent attractions for it's size (perfect).

Oregon Zoo

This zoo has more than you would expect, but it's not the San Diego Zoo. Some of the enclosures are kind of depressing. Their orangutan house is drab and dirty and the orangs sit around looking bored. Poor lonely sea otter entertains himself by, well let's just say he does what he can to entertain himself.

A wonderful place to visit!

I love to go to the zoo all of the time.It is a good place to learn about animals. It is a great place to relax with your family and you are able to see the animals in a nice setting. the staff is very friendly too.

Must see for all visitors

The Oregon Zoo is a must see! Take the train over to Washington Park and walk around too! While there, visit the Rose Garden Store and get some Portland memorabelia too!

Great zoo

This is a great zoo with a large variety of exhibits and a neat train ride. In the summer there is a birds of prey show with eagles soaring over the crowd. The zoo is not too large to see on foot, but large enough to enjoy for several hours. There is a beautiful ocean exhibit with sea lions and sea otters you can watch from underwater viewing windows and lorikeets you can feed while they sit on you. Anyone visiting Portland should make time to experience this zoo.
