Horrible!

This hotel was horrid! Waited an hour past check in time before we could get into our room. The room itself was awful- kitchen was so old I didn't feel safe using the stove, the carpet was gross, the bathroom was gross, there were pubic hairs in the shower, long black hairs on the towels and the whole room smelled so bad we had to air it out while we were gone to dinner. The parking garage was so small and hard to get in and out of it was scary! DON'T waste your time and money with this hotel, awful!

Can't miss!

Unique and good value for what you get and the location is perfect for anything going on downtown.......make a weekend out of it for holiday shopping!

Great Price for Downtown

The best thing about the Mark Spencer is the price/value. I think my room was about $135/night, but the room included a spearate living area, almost full kitchen, and separate bedroom. The location was perfect and although it was a bit old and run down, it was so in a charming way. The afternoon tea and cookies are a bit disappointing, unless you like Oreos (which I do, but that wasn't what I was expecting).

Opera Singers Practice on Sunday Afternoons

I always stay at the Mark Spencer when I'm in Portland. I just love it. Great, unique rooms, all different configurations -- it's always a surprise to see what room I'll get and what's up in the hotel. Good breakfast in the common room and laundry room downstairs. The neighborhood has changed somewhat and isn't as funky as it was and I miss that some, but do appreciate being adjacent to the Pearl District and being right on the light rail line to the library, museums, PSU and the grocery. It's still right by Jakes and Powells is only a block away on Burnside.
