Took my corded electric lawn mower to be repaired. It just stopped working. I had the power switch on but was not even cutting yet. It just stopped. After 3 weeks and not hearing from them, I called. 15 minutes wait on phone. Then they say we will have it repaired tomorrow or we will let you know about repairs tomorrow.
I call the next day. They say $91 plus change to repair it. Also, they say that they do not have a replacement blade, that I would have to get that someplace else. Or I could upgrade to newer models for $150-$180.
I ask what is wrong with it. They say they don't know until I authorize the work to be done. I ask what the blade has to do with it because it was a loss of power that I had a problem with. They say I would have to ask the technician.
I look on line and on the Black and Decker website it shows that the blade is available for $18. I call back and ask how they can give me a price for $91 to repair if they don't know what's wrong with it yet. They don't have an answer.
I found Black and Decker website and contact the company saying that their authorized repair place is jerking me around. They simply duck the problem by not addressing it. They tell me I can get the blade. I keep asking how they can give me a repair charge without knowing what is wrong with the machine. They answer that each place has its policies and they are not responsible for the policies of this Black and Decker authorized repair place.
