After graduating from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA Dr. Bergstrom received his Medical Degree from the University of Washington. He did an internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, then returned to the UW for an endocrinology fellowship where he researched diabetes, staying on as an instructor until joining PDEC in 1989. He wrote and co-authored 25+ publications on diabetes and other endocrine conditions in scientific peer-reviewed journals. As a volunteer, Dr. Bergstrom served on a medical mission in Honduras and has been a camp physician at the Chris Dudley Basketball Camp and also the Gales Creek Camp Foundation for Children with Diabetes where he continues to serve on the Board of Directors. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, and attending or participating in sporting events.
