St. Lucie West Middle School offers academic courses to students in grades kindergarten through eight. Located in Port St. Lucie, Fla., its classrooms are equipped with student computer workstations and supervised Internet access. It offers a variety of academic and elective courses with emphasis on reading, writing and technology. Its students study topics in a networked synergistic lab, including audio and video broadcasting, engineering, electronics, rocketry and space. It offers artwork classes through a variety of mediums, including charcoal drawing, painting, clay and figure molding, art history and graphic design. Its morning activities include sci-fi club, step dancing and problem-solving programs, as well as other activities. Its before-school program provides students with a variety of curricular and extracurricular activities.
