I volunteer there and see what goes on behind the scenes. This group truly cares for their animals. It's kept very clean and sanitized. The animals are exercised daily and applications are carefully reviewed. When the adopters arrive, they are schooled on the animals's care and sent home with enough supplies for a few days. Great place. AND the volunteers are wonderful! I'm there twice a week with my granddaughter.

When my family was looking to adopt a dog last month, we saw an adorable dog on the HVHS website. Although I left 3 phone messages and two emails trying to contact them about the dog, no one ever had the decency to get back to me. I can understand that the dog might have been in progress of being adopted by someone else, but it would have been nice not to get our hopes up. My daughter was heartbroken when the dog was no longer on their website. The short story is, we then contacted another shelter about a gorgeous Beagle, they replied to my email immediately & we are now Beagle parents! A happy ending, but no thanks to HVHS!
