The food was okay but buyer bewared when going to this restaurant. Particularly with a party of 5 or more. I went w/ 4 of my friends to celebrate a birthday and when the bill came they not only put an automatic 18% gratuity tip on the bill but they screwed us even more adding insult to injury by taxing the entire bill including the tip. I've been going to restaurants even nicer then this that were also on the water and never have I been taxed on a tip. Much less have I ever been charged a gratuity when our party is only 5 people. We all felt as if we were taken. I'm writing this review in the hopes others won't have to endure the same fate.

Also as far as the rice is concerned they do NOT tell you that corn is in it. I'm not allowed to have any corn, not even corn flakes and to just say it is "Seasoned rice" is NOT good enough. I could've been physically made ill by this. They're very fortunate I wasn't . I did NOT eat the rice once I realized that it had corn in it.

So buyer beware this is one restaurant we will NEVER step foot in again and I recommend if you're thinking of going here you simply rethink that!

Two "Maine" reasons to go and dine

If you are a lover of fresh fish and exceptional seaworthy views, this is the place for you.

Year round you cannot get much better. After vacationing in Maine for years, this is the

place to dine without having to travel 5 hours. The view of the fishing boats and the fact

of learning that this restaurant serves their own freshly caught fish daily makes it well worth

visiting. The lobsters are sweet and tender not to mention the delicious succulent scallops.

They offered a Clambake this summer which was out of this world and affordably priced.

I agree with you on your review and disgree with lexierstewart on his. Frozen fish?? NO WAY

Frozen poduct????

I agree the view is the best on long island, come around sunset and you will not be dissapointed. But about the food and it being frozen product you make at home. First of all mabey YOU buy frozen fish for yourself but I don't and because of that I know the Fisherman's Catch surely dosen't. I am a regular customer and have been since they opened about 10 years ago and yes the menu has changed slightly a few times but I have always enjoyed everything. The food is fresh and presented beatifully. From what I have learned the boats from the trawlers to the scows are where most of the fish is caught and delivered directly to the restaurant for their menu, so frozen product I think not. Lexierstewart, you should be more responsible and find out facts when you speak. You sound like a very sad person, I feel bad for you.

Lovely view - lowly food

Watching the sunset with a glass of wine on the terrace, pier or dock of the restaurant is a joy. There are usually rustic scows moored there and beautiful boats cruising by. Unfortunately, the food is not much better than if you bought a frozen product and cooked it at home. This location has been one restaurant or another for many years but it has been a very long time since the food was good. Hopably, someone will be able to turn this kitchen around, the location is too wonderful to be wasted this way.
