Idea Foundry is a 501(c) (3) organization founded in 2002 to support commercialization of research from Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh and local entrepreneurs. It offers three programs, including idea transformation fellowship program, business transformation and technology transfer. The organization's sector-specific programs include The Life-Science Start-Up Accelerator Program and The Pittsburgh Entertainment Technology Project. The Pittsburgh Regional Investment Center operates as the General Partner of funds designed to invest in projects in energy, technology, entertainment and manufacturing sectors.
