Established as a public trust in 1895, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh offers library services from more than 15 neighborhood library locations, the main library in Oakland and the library for the blind and physically handicapped. Each year the library provides more than 6,000 free programs, classes, and other learning and training opportunities. Through its reference services, the library responds to information needs in person, on the telephone, e-mail and by letter. Its Telephone Ready Reference answers more than 5,000 questions every month, from celebrity birth dates, addresses and corporate requests for proper grammar to help in addressing correspondence to a foreign head of state. The library s film and audio department features foreign films, anime, TV series, nonfiction videos on DVD and video home system, audio books on CD and cassette, and music CDs. Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is open Monday through Friday, and is located in Pittsburgh.
