EDIT 3/19: Two days after bringing her home from this place, my dog developed a nasty eye infection in both of her eyes. My vet couldn't say definitively whether or not my dog caught it at the groomers. My vet said that's it was extremely likely that's where it came from. Over $600 to treat her eyes, and still going back for follow ups. I would rather groom my dog myself than take her back to this place.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

If I could give a 2.5, I would. Also, I think I just might be spoiled from my previous (and current, after this experience) groomer, who is paws and tails more caring than this woman. I still don't understand why it takes 4 hours to groom a 14lb dog.

We first walked in and there were about 3 or 4 dogs in cages, not crates, behind the counter, some of which were barking VERY loud. We had to do our 'consultation' outside her store, which I thought was a little strange. Either way, at this point, I probably should have just walked away, but I decided to give her a chance. I tell her how I want the dog groomed, and she tells me it's going to be 4 hours. My last groomer finished my dog within 90 minutes, so that seemed VERY long to me. Again, I should have just left.

We wait the time, and go to pick her up. Whitney picks her up out of the cage and hands her to me, and I check her over for any nicks, cuts, or burns. I understand that dogs aren't easy to groom, and when I pointed out two little nicks on her underside, Whitney wasn't the least bit apologetic. I had already paid since this was a groupon deal, and I left. I didn't tip her, but you could definitely tell she was hanging around waiting for me to pull out my wallet to give her one.

My little dog is a sturdy little thing and not easily scared. When I brought her home, she was the most lethargic, jumpy dog I've dealt with. I felt so incredibly bad that I put her through that. I've never seen her so sleepy but so nervous before. It makes me almost wonder if the groomer gave my dog something to 'calm' her down. That and for the next two days, my dog had terrible stomach issues.

I just got the vibe that she didn't really care about these animals. Would I go back? Never. Sometimes that deal isn't worth it at all

My dog tends to get ear infections each and every time she comes back from this groomer. I'm not sure if it's dirty tools or water/shampoo getting down dogs ears. I always make sure to kindly remind her to be careful with dogs ears due to the infections however I have to go to the vet after almost every grooming to get ear medication/ointments. After looking inside dog's ears I notice redness and missing skin from harsh plucking. Also the appointments take 4 hours regardless if you are the first one on the appointment list. The haircuts are nice though. I will most likely go somewhere else.

I'm sorry you're not happy with your dog's grooming experience, however I assure you that ear infections are caused from the inside out. Typically ear infections are caused by poor diet, not anything topical. If the ears are severely infected that redness and soreness are common. If your vet insists on round after round of anti-biotics and is not talking to you about proper nutrition, I would consider changing vets. All appointments for haircuts are four hours, you are correct. No one is "first" however. I book 3 or 4 dogs every hour. No animal stays in the cage very long, they are continuously being worked on throughout the time at the shop. This is how my system has always been and it's very effective. If I can get done early I will call the owners, but typically everyone is aware and ok with the process taking four hours.

Whitney is calm, patient and very talented. I took my goldendoodle to get a haircut after delaying it for 16 months, worrying that whoever cut his hair would turn him into a poodle. I loved his long hair- but it was all over the place before I brought him in, all different lengths and in his eyes. He was shaggy in a bad way. Whitney transformed him into a beautiful well groomed dog, who could see again, and you could tell HE even felt better. Highly recommend her..she has lots of experience and I would not go anyplace else. I have nothing against poodles, I am just happy she kept him a Goldendoodle.
