Vets are good but the front desk service is the worst. I took my dog today for a check up and because of the pandemic we had to check in from our car and wait there for the call to let us know it was out turn on the list. After 3 hours i called back because the parking was empty just me and my dog and the front desk lady said she had been calling me at an old phone number. I told her when i called her my number showed on her caller id but regardless she should have verified my number. Instead of apologizing (which would have made a difference) she lied right to my face (or to my ear in this case) and told me she had verified my contact number when i first called, which it was not true. And when the technician called me back to let me know she was coming outside to get my dog she was very despotic and raw: "hey, do you want your dog to be seen or not?" were her words to a client who has spent thousands of dollars there thru the years. Ten minutes later they brought my dog back with some antibiotics pills and a $175 bill (i don't complain about the bill, it's a fair price). Good vet doctors but terrible, horrible, shameful customer service from both desk personnel and some technicians.

Southside Animal Hospital let my dog die in their parking lot.

Early morning on 10/27/2016, my dog began to act strangely – staggering and panting. I loaded him up in the car and prepared to take him to the closest ER vet that I knew – on Thomas. While stopped at a stop light, I realized that he was in distress and would probably not make it to that vet.

A quick Google search located the nearest vet, which was Southside Animal Hospital – they were set to open in less than 20 minutes, and they were 5 minutes away. I quickly made my way in that direction. I pulled into their parking lot and tried the door – it was unlocked and I could hear people in the back

I called out to them to ask for help. One guy came out and informed me that they didn’t open until 8AM. At this point, that was only 12 minutes away, and my dog didn’t have that much time. I asked if they could see him early since this was an emergency and was told flatly – no. I asked a second time, saying my dog was dying, only to be shown the door.

Frankly, I was in shock. As I stood outside trying to figure out what to do next, I heard the door lock behind me. God forbid, I try to bring my dying dog in for help.

I sat in the parking lot for the next 10 minutes while my dog died in my arms. I was not ready to drive yet, so I sat there for another 10 to 15 minutes trying to compose myself enough to drive.

By this time, it was past 8AM. I realize that I was not a current client, but you would think that common human decency would have compelled SOMEONE from that office to take the 20 steps outside to see if all was OK. No one did.

I will never seek help from this vet again, and I urge others to do the same.
