The Valley of the Sun United Way is a local nonprofit organization headquartered in Phoenix. The organization has partnerships with several businesses, individuals, government and other nonprofit organizations. Founded in 1925, it provides a variety of programs and services for children, families, senior citizens, people with disabilities and individuals fighting disease. The Valley of the Sun United Way offers children, youths and adults with opportunities for quality learning and skill development. The organization provides counseling, housing, independent living skills, and job training and placement programs. It additionally offers domestic violence prevention, food assistance, and medical, dental and vision care programs. The Valley of the Sun United Way is a part of the United Way, which is a national network of nearly 1,300 local organizations. The parent organization provides various early childhood, financial and disaster response programs.
