Shafeeq Ladha, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson in 2000. He subsequently completed his neurology residency at Barrow Neurological Institute at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, where he was a chief resident in his final year. His experience treating patients with neuromuscular disorders during these years prompted him to seek subspecialty training in neuromuscular medicine. Dr. Ladha completed a fellowship in neuromuscular disorders and peripheral nerve diseases at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in 2005. During this time he also became proficient at analyzing and interpreting nerve biopsies. In 2006, he completed another fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona in clinical neurophysiology and electromyography, where he learned common and specialized neurophysiologic techniques such as single fiber EMG and repetitive nerve stimulation. Dr. Ladha returned to Barrow in 2007 as the director of the Barrow MDA Clinic and eventually opened the AANEM-accredited Barrow EMG laboratory. He holds faculty positions at both the University of Arizona College of Medicine and Creighton University.
