Dr Scott E. Tropper is a Radiation Oncologist who has been practicing and caring for Arizona patients since 1995. His training in radiation was completed in 1994 at State University Hospitals in Syracuse N.Y. under the guidance of Dr Robert H. Sagerman. His medical school training was completed at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn N.Y. as part of an accelerated program that only admitted 20 students out of 400 plus applicants. After working for a short while with an existing radiation group in Phoenix, he opened his own state of the art, private practice radiation center in April 1998 which he grew into one of the 2 largest prostate cancer referral centers in the southwestern United States. He brought innovative and new technology to the valley including Calypso real time prostate motion tracking for use during IMRT and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy for isolated or limited metastatic liver lesions. He was also one of the first to combine Intensity Modulated Radiation along with Real Time prostate brachytherapy Implantation for treating more aggressive prostate cancers. Not someone easily satisfied with the status quo, during this same period he also traveled extensively throughout Asia to teach and share his expertise. He taught his real time technique for prostate brachytherapy throughout Bangkok and in 12/2000 performed the first real time prostate implantation on live television on a fellow physician in Seoul Korea. After growing this practice to it’s maximal potential, he then sold it to take time off to spend with his 2 children in their formative years. But a few short years later, he realized there was a glaring need for a center of excellence for treating skin cancer with specific high dose rate accelerated brachytherapy in Arizona. Recognizing this void, he partnered with dermatologic specialist Mark A. Blair, MD at Paradise Valley Dermatology to open one of the only skin cancer specific centers in Arizona that combined the surgical expertise of Moh’
