The Phoenix Fire Department works for the protection of residents lives and properties. The department provides fire prevention, rescue and safety services. It offers Tobacco Education Prevention, Youth Firesetter Intervention and Fire FitKids programs. The Phoenix Fire Department s Cadet Program includes hands-on emergency medical training in firefighting skills. The department maintains more than 55 fire stations. In addition, it has a fleet of several tankers, engines and ladders, as well as offers emergency transportation services. The Phoenix Fire Department is governed by the City of Phoenix. The department maintains a regional dispatch center and the Certified Fire Journalist Media Academy.
