We have taken numerous family members over the years to the Paradise Valley Hospital emergency room. Each time, we have had rapid, courteous care. I have had the same, very good treatment for my Aunt, my Dad, my husband, my daughter, my son and myself.
Excellent doctors and nursing staff got to the bottom of whatever we needed, and quickly. I have nothing but good things to say about them.

Just the worst. I'll never go to this hospital again. You'll get better care at International House of Pancakes !

I was referred to the "brand new" wound center at 3805 E. Bell Rd. I needed an urgent appointment so I took my own copy of the referral to expedite things. After waiting about 30 minutes {no problem, I had the time), I was called into an office in the back to obtain an appointment. I will not name the person I spoke with because I would prefer the staff be re-educated rather than reprimanded. There was a desk and a chair in the office. I asked "is there a chair for me"? I had recently had had knee surgery and am still sore. The one word answer was "no". My face must have shown my surprise because she next said "you're not going to be here that long". Really! What a first impression to give new patients. Very unwelcoming. I felt like a kid in the principal's office. As it turned out, I was there, standing, for 5 minutes while she answered 2 phone calls and went around the corner to do something before I received my appointment. Not a very favorable first impression and I haven't even seen a professional, yet.

I understand that only the RN attending to the patient should be the one to administer any medications. My wife has limited mobility as the result of a recent stroke. It is necessary for her to get assistance in order to go to the bathroom. We have waited 20 to 30 minutes after calling for assistance before the nurse assistant arrives. This is the only person who seems to be doing any "patient care" at this facility. The remaining RN's are too busy at the nurses station to offer assistance. I get so outraged over the patient neglect because it's "not their patient", that my wife makes me leave the hospital. So she lays their in her own waste until the over-worked patient assistant arrives. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for this. If the RN's do not wish to be bothered with patient care, then I suggest they find a new career. I know this won't do any good, but I'm sending it anyway. And I will send similar complaints on every site I can locate to warn others DO NOT TAKE A LOVED ONE TO PARADISE VALLEY HOSPITAL! I have registered a complaint with the Charge Nurse. This will go nowhere. She is as guilty as the rest of not responding to anything that may interrupt with her "administrative" time-killing activities. I've never seen a more poorly supervised bunch of individuals, and their actions can only mirror those of the person(s) in charge. If it's revenge you seek, this is a good place to send someone.

The bottom line here is.... the bottom line.

Hospitalists who don't seem to care. Nurses who spend more time filling out paperwork (on a computer in the room no less) than providing care. ER Drs who rush patients through the system, and admitted me with the wrong diagnosis!!

Lobby looks like a Bar!!!

Food is good, for a hospital.

Hospital Stay

I was very pleased with the care I received while I was in this hospital. The only complaint I have (And it isn't that big of deal unless you are blind or visually impaired), is that they did not tell me that I had to order my food, like room service. It was posted on the wall, but I am legally blind, and was unaware of this feature. The food was great though!

Upon entering the ER, I felt more like cattle being rushed through, due to their "promise" of being seen by a doctor within "30 minutes of your arrival." But again, these things were minor compared to my over all experience with them.

The room was clean and I was made to feel very comfortable, despite the physical pain I was in.

I would return to this hospital, well assured of understanding and professional personal.
