Eden Manor Assisted Living Group Home, located at 6013 S 47th St in Phoenix, AZ 85042, is a small 5 bedroom home set up to care for 10 senior adults needing assistance with daily living challenges.

Because we were given a discount while waiting for ALTCS to be approved, our sister was placed here after spending about a month in a skilled nursing / rehab facility following hip surgery. There are 2 'caregivers' at the home during the day and 1 at night.

This home looks beautiful from the outside, but upon stepping into the home, one is greeted with outdated, saggy furniture, the smell of urine and feces, and an eerie silence from the residents. The TV is on, but no one is watching it. A stack of board games covered in dust are on a shelf in the living room.

Sandwiches are being made and silently served to several sad-looking residents waiting in wheelchairs at the table.

The bathrooms, although adequately fitted with grab bars and raised toilet seats, are small, tight, and sadly in need of new paint. In fact, every room in the house needs a good painting and thorough dusting.

Our sister, who struggles with incontinence, had to wait much too long for help getting to the toilet and having her bedding changed. Also, although we purchased adult diapers, pads, pull-ups, and other incontinence aids for our sister, she was told that these became 'community property' and so they were usually gone sooner than we could purchase more for her needs.

She also frequently remarked that this home was really cold and that most of the residents wore coats inside at all times. And, although there was an outdoor area (shown occupied with happy people chatting on gorgeous outdoor furniture in Eden Manor's brochure), it was nothing but a broken down, partially covered terrace filled with dirt and weeds and not one stick of furniture at all. Residents mainly used this area for the occasional smoke.

And one of the most serious indications that we should remove our sister from this place as soon as possible - which we subsequently did - was that the staff did not keep track of our sister's medications well, even running out of them at one point!!! Very dangerous!!!

Needless to say - at this point - we do NOT recommend this group home as a place anyone should choose to send their loved one(s), even if they offer you a discount.

Sad. So very, very sad.
