Overnight, my car went from driving fine to not starting. I let Tyler know that I had taken it to Autozone and they tested my battery and noted that the battery was fine but the alternator was not working. I also had gotten a warning from my charger/conditioner. I asked to replace the belts at the same time, as they hadn't been replaced in a long time.
After diagnostics, Tyler called to say it was just the battery, the alternator showed a "ripple", but that he "wouldn't replace it in his own car." So, trusting the mechanics knowledge, I picked up my car the next morning (12/1).
As of 12/10, the battery indicator came on. I called Tyler and he set up for me to drop it off again. Driving down the road, thankfully NOT the freeway, I lost all power systems and coast to the side.
Today, I'm expecting someone to be ON IT first thing in the morning, as this is the 2nd time in less than 2 weeks that my car is in for electrical issues. At 9, they had not started yet. 30 mins later, I get a call: the alternator is toast.
I HAD JUST BROUGHT IT IN!!!! And I was reassured it was the battery. Their fix: warranty out a BRAND NEW BATTERY.
After already spending 180 for a new battery less than 2 weeks ago, I have another 600 to replace an alternator that I had been concerned with to begin with! On top of this, my belt has "some cracks", which were not caught last week when they checked my car out and made sure the alternator was ok!
Not only does this situation reflect poorly on their service and their techs, but it put me and my infant son in a precarious position that could have ended very badly. For me to have lost all power, while on the freeway, trying to coast to the shoulder, with no lights, no power steering, no engine, could have resulted in serious injury!
As of this moment, I'm waiting to see if Tyler is willing to remedy this situation, my car is supposedly getting a new alternator and belt now. If the situation is rectified appropriately, I will update my review.
