My father was admitted on 3/23/2020 because he was having trouble breathing, was very weak and had a temperature. He was immediately put in a coma and died 3 days later on 3/26/2020. WE BEGGED THE HOSPITAL TO LET US VISIT WHILE HE WAS ALIVE AND AFTER HIS DEATH AND WE WERE NOT ALLOWED by video chat or in person! He died from Covid19 complications with underlining conditions! We can NEVER get this time back! SHAME ON YOU BANNER ESTRELLA HOSPITAL! SHAME ON YOU! I hope you do not put other families through this torture you have caused us!

My cousin was using a walker after having a hip replacement at Banner Estrella. He fell in the backyard and paramedics took him to Banner Estrella Er. At 10 PM I called and was told that he broke his right arm and displaced his right hip and would be admitted to the hospital. In the middle of the night I was woken by the doorbell. Two transporters were DUMPING him back home (he had good insurance). They handed me his walker. I tried to refuse taking him, asking them how he expected him to get around with a walker with his right arm in a cast and a sling? They said they were not medical personnel and would not take him back. The next morning I called the Banner ER coordinator and asked her why he was discharge with his walker and his right arm in a sling. Her answer was "I don't know. I wasn't on duty on that shift." I begged her to take him back since he could not get out of bed and his right leg looked out of place. She told me that he could not come back because he had been discharged and was now the problem of his primary doctor. The case worker never called me back either. I was panicked and didn't quite know what to do. Within a few days, my cousin was admitted to St Joseph's ICU with a dislocated right hip (they never fixed it properly), pneumonia (his chest xray upon admission to the ER was normal) and worst of all septicemia (blood poisoning) which was causing all of his internal organs to shut down. Pneumonia & Septicemia are often nosocomial (hospital acquired) infections, which I believe he got at Banner ER. I had to hold his hand for the last 3 days of his life until he passed away from the septicemia. Banner immediately "circle the wagon train" and no calls were returned and no answers given. Even my 8-year old neighbor asked me why the hospital would send home someone on a walker with his right arm in a sling. And of course at 8 years of age, he has no medical training. I wrote a letter to the CEO of

Banner Medical which was unanswered but finally got a call from Risk Management saying they would investigate the incident, but the findings would not be shared with me. They said the investigation would be carried out by the ER Department Manager. That's like asking the fox for an accurate inventory of the hens in the chicken coop. As far as I'm concerned, his life was taken away from him by incompetence at Banner ER. And worst of all, I was received with curt, rude and uncaring personnel. I will always be traumatized by having to sit for 3 days in ICU holding my cousin's hand and watching him die over a broken arm that was mishandled by Banner ER. Dumping him back home without admitting him for observation & the case worker failing to try to place him in a rehab hospital until he could get around ended his life. If you can help it, avoid this ER like the plague. It has changed my life and taken my cousin and best friend's life prematurely.

First class hospital/doctors

I have been there twice since it opened and its staff is excellent. You have to understand that different conditions are treated in different manners. Its called a triage system and every hospital uses it. Yes they may let a kidney stone pass while testing someone else for a heart attack or stroke. They do a great job....a level one rated trauma center...

I'm the type of person who doe...

I'm the type of person who does not like going to see a doctor. I also do not have health insurance at the moment, but a friend's mom told me to go to Banner Estrella because not only was it close to my house, but she said I could apply for health insurance there. So, after being sick for for over three months on and off, I finally decided enough is enough and gave it a go. My boyfriend and I sat at the extended part of the waiting room in these chairs lined up against the wall, seeing as there was no room elsewhere. We arrived after I got off work around 10:30pm and finally around 1:30am I went up to the desk and asked the woman (a different woman than the one who checked me in) how many people were ahead of me. She asked for my name and after she found out, became very rude towards me, asking me, "Where have you been? We've called you ten times about an hour ago. You've been taken out of the system." Seeing as I never got up or left the emergency room, I told her that my boyfriend and I had been sitting there the entire time, and neither of us heard my name being called. She then questioned where I was sitting and proceeded with, "Well, you can hear me from over there." Most of the other employees either called patients over the intercom or walked around the corner to call out names. It really upset me to know they did not want to do the same for me. She basically called me a liar and said I would have to be reprocessed into the computer system and get put behind every single person in the E.R. The whole time she was very rude to me and my boyfriend when him and I were not being disrespectful in any way. I wish I would have caught her name. She was a bigger woman, caucasian, blue eyes and brown hair. I can guarantee I will NEVER step foot in this hospital again, and I will tell my friends and family to do the same. I plan on getting that woman's name and reporting her for being so disrespectful and childish.

Worst of the worst

This was my 2nd visit each visit was a 2 to 3 hour wait in the waiting room with a server tooth & jaw pain. Once called back the doctor did not look at where the tooth pain was or how my mouth looked. Asked very little questions. Also the doctor act as if treating & seeing me was a waste of his time. My mouth & jaw was extremely sowllen. No treatment was given @ the hospital & no recommendations was given. After 2 to 3 hours waiting it only took 5 mintues & sent away like I did not matter. I HATE THIS HOSPITAL. They need to change the waiting & treament of patients no matter the condition of their situation or pain. The docotors need a lesson on bed side manners. I HATE THIS HOSPITAL. st. Joesph's is better with better service & treatement. Banner Estrall needs to reveluate their waiting time & treament of paitents

NO! The doctors are horrible, ...

NO! The doctors are horrible, I been here twice :( I hated it, I actually cried. Banner Good Sam is way better but it's far from me so the paramedic took me here. I have not met one decent doctor during my stays here.

Excellent

My 90-year old father was hospitalized on the Cardiac Ward (2nd floor, Room 1215) for pacemaker placement and required an overnight stay On July 24, 2009. Due to his age, we somewhat concerned about the procedure, however, all went well, and we are eternally grateful to the entire staff for everything that was done for him.

We were amazed by the "Room Service" Menu for his meals. His gourmet meals arrived promptly, and professionally delivered by staff dressed in black slacks & vest with white shirts.

Housekeeping Staff was courteous, requesting to enter and service room and then thanking us upon departure.

We established a rapport with the Nursing staff, and I am pleased to name the ones that I remember, i.e., Allyson, Brittany, Amy, and Kathy(I belive she is the Cardiac NP). Thanks from the bottom of my (our) hearts for everything that you did to care for my father, as well as encouraging words that helped to put our minds at ease. If I forgot someone, please know that I only forgot your name, not your gracious service.

The Team work was highly evident, and everyone performed their duties with a passion.

Many thanks again.

Emergency care

My son is in Arizona for college, on July 31st he went to Banner Estrella Hosp. with severe rt sd pain and vomitting. He sat in ER waiting room for several hours with out any help when the pain lightened he left the waiting room since he was getting no help. On Friday Aug. 1st he returned to the ER with same sysmptoms at about 9:30 pm and at 3:30am now in his 2nd waiting room someone called me to get my guarantor infomation. At approx 4:30 he called me and he had is blood taken and a HEP LOCK placed and a CT scan and was in his 3rd waiting room. He started feeling VERY ill and was told by the man at the front desk that no one could help him untill "his name" came up on the comp. At 6:30 am my son called me and told me that the DR. told him sometime in the last few hours ( probably while in one of those waiting rooms) he had passed a KIDNEY STONE! He was then given pain meds and sent home. Now not even 2 weeks later HE has recieved 2 bill for payment. Remember I said at 3:30 in the am I gave them MY address in Texas to bill, he is a college student and I have the insurance. I am very glad that he wasn't more serious than he was because he could have passed out before "his name came up on the comp.) I will be looking for a much more patient freindly hosp. for him to go to for future care. I accually work for a hosp. in Texas and we would NEVER leave our patients in the lobby for 8 hours and hearded them from waiting room to waiting room only then to be sent home with pain meds.
