Established in 1905, Pennsylvania State Police is an internationally accredited law enforcement agency. It has more than 4,500 sworn members and over 1,600 civilians who serve in a variety of roles. The agency operates nearly 80 stations and is located in Philadelphia. Its firearms division maintains records related to firearms licensing and transfers. Pennsylvania State Police s auto theft task forces investigate vehicle theft rings and insurance fraud operations. The agency also operates home security, child protection and burglary prevention programs. Pennsylvania State Police additionally provides special driving programs and is approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
