The organization was founded on June 15, 1854 by George H. Stuart, a prominent Philadelphia business man and importer.  Since the beginning the goal of the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA has remained the same, which is to reach the youth, adults and families in our communities and to provide programs and services that foster growth in spirit, mind and body. While our programs and facilities are always based on the unique needs and interests of our communities, every Y has one thing in common: our people. The volunteers, staff, members, and donors of the Y are all united by a deep commitment to strengthening our communities. The Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA, serving Philadelphia, Montgomery and Delaware Counties, offers a wide range of programs for children and teens including swim lessons, sports, fitness, child care and day camps. For adults and seniors, the Y has personal training, a variety of group exercise classes, wellness orientations and free babysitting services. Not only is the Y the place for you to stay active and healthy, but is a safe, fun environment to make new friends and volunteer to help others. There are many programs and services offered at the Y each day to help all our community members learn, grow and thrive in their own unique way.
