Founded in 1887, the Penn Museum houses one-of-a-kind artifacts acquired from over 300 archaeological and anthropological expeditions. As a dynamic research institution with many ongoing research projects, the Museum is a vibrant and engaging place of continual discovery, with the mandate of research, teaching, collections stewardship, and public engagement—the four “pillars” of what we do.

This is an interesting museum that is seldom crowded. If you like to learn about different cultures, especially ancient Egypt, this is a great museum to visit.

Good Museum

If you are interested in archaeology, this is a great place to visit. Some of the displays are a bit outdated, and it can get hot in there during the summer, though.

Choose your Visit Time Carefully.

This building can get very hot during the summer, and very cold during the winter. Choose your time you visit carefully. Some of the exhibits are good, some are a bit dated. The Egyptian section is the best.

Very Interesting Museum

On the campus of University of Pennsylvania, this museum is off the beaten path. If you are interested in ancient Egypt and other cultures, it is a must see.
