Provided by YP.comWhen I was 21 years old I attempted to wear contact lenses. I was not able to wear them and was referred to Dr. David Peltan, an optomitrist by family members. Dr Peltan determined I had double vision both vertically and horizontally. Although Dr. Peltan was never able to diagnose my problem he did treat my symptoms by prescribing glasses with prisim to correct my vision. At the age of 59, I was diagnosed with Duane Syndrome TYPE II by an opthomoIogist and the DX confirmed by a neurological opthomologist. I was unable to replace my last glasses made in 2003 with glasses that improved my vision. That was when I found out not all LABS are equal. After several bad experiences trying to get glasses that would improve my vision (distance & reading) The Eye Institue was recommended to me. The intern gave me the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. Because Type II Duane Syndrome is a rare condition, One on the staff DR. repeated the exam to make sure the RX was correct (the Dr. had not seen this condition previously) I recieved the correct RX for new glasses. The prisim now required to correct my vision exceeds what is possible to make. i was told they could correct my vision but the prisims could no longer be changed. I was fine because I had always turned my head to correct my vertical & horizontal vision even when my glasses were new. The intern spoke to the Optomitrist at the retail eye glass store to make sure he was aware of the issues and the assurance that if the glasses were not correct to contact the intern or the Dr. MY NEW GLASSES ARE GREAT. I KNEW MY VISION HAD GOTTEN WORSE DURING THE EIGHT YEARS SINCE MY LAST GLASSES HAD BEEN MADE, BUT I COULD NOT BELIEVE THE IMPROVEMENT IN MY VISION IN MY DISTANCE GLASSES AND SEPERATE READING GLASSES. I WOULD GIVE TEN STARS IF I COULD.
