Operational since 1992, EducationWorks has been providing educational and developmental support for economically disadvantaged communities in Philadelphia and Chester, Camden and Trenton. It is one of the largest AmeriCorps programs in Pennsylvania and focuses on literacy, graduation rates, safety and social awareness of children, youth and adults. The organization assists more than 15,000 students and families annually through customized and long-term in-school, after-school and summer programs. EducationWorks offers an array of programs, including academic and social development, early learning, citizenship/service learning, college/career preparation, technology/safety and antiviolence. In partnership with Youth Service America, Girl Scouts and others, it is associated with United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
