Beacon Center, a unique program that has been in operation for over thirty-two years, provides educational, emotional, creative and social guidance for children in a home-like and loving environment. Beacon Center believes in sensory learning through play, games, manipulatives, and exploration making a child's first "school" experience a relaxed, friendly and joyous one. A day at Beacon Center will include language arts, reading readiness, science, music, movement, math, and art activities that are stimulating and will encourage a child’s growth and development. The ultimate goal is to form a union with parents to help children develop confidence, a strong self-image, and a thirst for learning. Beacon Center for Children offers flexible schedules and enrollment throughout the year as space permits. Schedule a tour by calling 215.963.0748 or by email, beacon2125@aol.com

In response to the review from a parent who was unhappy with the toys & the curriculum at Beacon Center: Our curriculum is full of creative, interesting themes and activities. We have a curriculum coordinator on staff who insures that our activities are both fun and challenging. We're devoted to developing the "whole child", & focus on value centered education where children learn "by doing", while having a great time! We do Math & Reading Readiness, Arts & Crafts, Story Time, Science, Music & Dance, Language Classes, Gardening, Puppetry and Theatrical activities along with free play & outdoor play time. We consider the many interests of the children as well as their individual learning styles. As for the comments about toys, we wash them often, replace them with new ones, and we are fully licensed by the state. I strongly suggest that you come & visit. You'll quickly see we're a top notch, warm, & happy place where "kids" get to be "kids" & who are sad when it's time to go home.

absolutely no structure - no teaching of letters or numbers, or how to hold a pencil or tracing letters - things that are standard in the other toddler programs around town! and if you try to talk to them about it, they shoo you away as if you're annoying them. very dirty toys that have to be at least 15-20 years old. it's a joke to call it "tuition" when it's really a dingy, dirty day care!!! only reason there is a waiting list here is (if there is one indeed) is simply because of a supply demand issue - there are so many kids and essentially the same number of programs like this. i wish i had looked critically at this when i started my child, because i would have never come here.
