I believe in the start to finish concept originally developed by my Dad and Uncle, which is where our story begins in the late 1960’s. After working in the construction trade for a few years, my Dad, Howard DeJong started his own home building company in the late 1960’s. My Dad and Uncle worked together for many years building new homes. They would frame a house together then my Dad would build the cabinets and trim, while my Uncle would wire and plumb the house. Then they would get back together and finish the project before starting the next new home. My Dad founded Dutch Master “Hand Crafted” in 1984. In the following 25 years my Dad became a Master Cabinet and Furniture Builder. He continued to build custom homes when he had time. I started helping my Dad when I was very young so I have literally been building and remodeling homes my entire life. While helping Dad I attended Pella Christian Schools and received a degree in Marketing Management from Des Moines Area Community College. I started my own company in 1993, building new and remodeling older homes and businesses. I have gone on to be licensed as a Master Residential Electrician, Master Plumber, Master HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning). We incorporated Dutch Master Co. in January of 2012. We can build your new home, add an addition, or simply remodel a kitchen or bathroom without the need to wait on subcontractors. We continue to provide and pride ourselves on the start to finish construction my Dad started. Yes you will wait for us to start on your project, but once we are there we will stay on your project until it is completed. In 2000, my wife Heather and I had our first child. He was born with Spina Bifida and has not had the use of his legs since birth. That led us down the road of handicapped access. We have been and continue to build and accessorize fully handicapped accessible homes. We now offer residential elevators as well.
