Midwest Generation is one of the largest independent power producers in the United States, producing enough electricity to meet the needs of more than 8 million households. Headquartered in downtown Chicago, Midwest Generation is a subsidiary of Edison Mission Energy and part of the Edison International family of companies, which is based in Rosemead, Calif. Primarily in the business of generating electricity for sale in the competitive wholesale market, the company owns and operates more than five electric power generating facilities in Illinois and also supervises operation of a plant in western Pennsylvania. Midwest Generation s facilities are capable of generating approximately 7,500 megawatts of electricity and have more than 1,000 employees. Midwest Generation has a location in Pekin, Ill.
