Childhood Throwback

I used to love Carvel Ice Cream as a kid growing up in New York. It was a treat my young friends and I looked forward to anytime we had extra change in our pockets. My standard order was always "achocolateconewithchocolatesprinkles, please," nothing more nothing less. So when I happened upon this oddly placed Carvel just west of Lake Ave. in Pasadena, I just had to stop in. I really want to rave about the place...tell you how it was just as I remembered it, and how I was transported back to happier days when I was just a kid, and...but alas, the ice cream was not only mediocre, it was expensive as all get out! In fact, we paid over $10 for three small single serve cones! I have to say the cool little cone-shaped "drip trays" were kind of neat, but for ten bucks, I could have gotten a couple of gallons of store brand stuff and some cones to serve at home. A bit disappointing, but still worth it to stop in if for nothing but a bit of nostalgia.
