Central Electric Cooperative is a rural electric system that serves nearly 25,000 members in portions of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Forest, Mercer, and Venango counties in Pennsylvania. With more than 3,200 miles of distribution line, the cooperative is one of the largest rural electric cooperatives in Pennsylvania. Central Electric borrows 70 percent of its money from the Rural Utilities Service, formerly the Rural Electrification Administration, and the remaining 30 percent from the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation to build its lines. Central Electric was incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1937 and has headquarters in Parker, Pa. It also operates a subsidiary, Cooperative Solutions, which provides all consumer service for Central Electric Cooperative.
