Feb 08 Inspector was asked if we needed to do anything to help facilitate his inspection. He was asked this while I was on my computer doing taxes. Inspector said "Nope" and immediately turned around and shorted the plug next to him. This caused a power surge that knocked out the circuit, the one my computer was on. The inspector pointed at my computer and said "Was that your computer?" I said "Yep" and reset the GFCI and tried to restart my computer. The surge destroyed the power supply and caused minor internal damage (not to mention loss of data for my taxes and access to my computer). This despite it being on a "surge protector". I contacted the owner and after quite some time (over a month) he called and stated that his man was not responsible and that he was "denying" my claim. I sent him a detailed list of all the components that may have received minor damage, along with a copy of the receipt for the replacement power supply and repairman's charge,($140).
