Established in 1840, First United Methodist Church of Oxford is center of worship and religious activities. Based in Oxford, Ala., it provides various prayer services for those who don't attend church, those affected by the slow economy, all the sick and shut-in, service men/women, pastors and families moving. The church has a children's ministry that organizes Sunday school classes for children of all age and Wednesday night activities. It organizes various events, including coffee time, morning worship, hand bell choir, cub scouts, Emmaus reunion group, youth music and church choir.
