I went to Shine Salon for a hair trial for my upcoming wedding. Immediately upon entering I was greeted warmly and brought a cup of coffee. I have curly hair, so stylist wanted to set my hair (wash, scrunch and put under blower) before styling. Staff kept checking in on me while my stylist disappeared for 45 mins and helped two other customers.



I brought pictures in like every bride and my stylist was very personable. She worked on my hair for a half hour and the back looked fantastic. Unfortunately, the front was pulled too tight, was too curly and didn't resemble the photograph. I politely asked to rework the front and stylist started talking me into the work she had done, and was not willing to tweak the front. Other customers and staff kept commenting on how great the back looked so I started thinking I was wrong and it would grow on me. We took pictures.



I brought different bridal pins to try in my hair during the trial. Stylist tried two of the three and we both liked one. The third was a headband, but if it was amazing beadwork. If i loved it, I knew I would order the clip version directly from vender. I asked stylist to hold it up, as if it was a clip, and take pictures. She refused saying the headband was a bad idea and the other clips were better. Looking back, I should have insisted but didn't feel i should have too.



After appointment, I went home and showed my mom, sister, friends and coworkers my hair trial results. Everyone started out telling me it looked "nice" and then commented on how great the back looked. After I said I wasn't happy with it, their response was, "What a relief!" Not the response a bride wants on her wedding day!!



Overall- other staff were friendly, but my stylist was difficult to work with and unwilling to work with me to create the look I wanted. This mistake cost me $185 for the trial and two trips to NY from CT. Obviously someone else is doing my hair for my wedding. =)
